OFFICIAL CRITIC REVIEW

An eclectic singer and songwriter, Trina is not shy to combine together her influences which include the soulful side of rock, blues, r&b and jazz. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Trina has a voice and style of her own, drawing from such inspirations as Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy, Dianne Reeves and Jimmy Page.

On “Sound Of My Heartache” and throughout her song collection, Trina utilizes sidemen who are all graduates of Berklee. She has performed duets during the past few years with the versatile guitarist Ron Bosse, who has worked with such jazz greats as Dave Liebman, George Garzone and Jerry Bergonzi. Bosse, who produced the album and the single, displays a rockish sound at the beginning of “Sound Of My Heartache,” setting up a colorful ensemble from which Trina's voice emerges. With organist John Cooke, Argentinian bassist Fernando Huergo and drummer Mike Stavitz playing a slow strut, Trina effectively creates a vocal that gradually builds up in power and intensity.

And while the song is about heartache, it is not downbeat or hopeless. One knows that the singer will survive and thrive, and that Trina Aitken has a lot of important music to share with her fans.
